We know that, all too often, businesses have to choose between low costs and a positive impact on the environment.

With Fresh Air Fuels Global, you can trust that your biogas plant will be both economically valuable and environmentally sustainable.

Our Story

Fresh Air Fuels evolved from a long-standing cooperation between two engineering companies – G-Volution in the UK, and CAE in South Africa - striving to persuade the world to evolve to lower carbon technologies.  CAE and G-volution have collaborated on several low-carbon fuel projects in South Africa, in Johannesburg and beyond.

CAE has developed very cost-effective anaerobic digestion systems in Southern Africa. These can create local, sustainable low carbon fuels as a part of the circular economy.  G-volution has been developing dual fuel customers in developing markets allowing lower costs, lower carbon powertrains in rail trucking and genset sectors – whilst delivering a clean fuels infrastructure.

This exciting, collaboration was born from a passionate desire to deliver lower cost, lower carbon technology being fed by a locally produced, lower carbon fuel sustaining a circular economy.  FAF-G will bring this message to many of the countries where G-volution operates today.

FAF-G will harness both the technology and the joint marketing opportunities, that exist to deliver cost-effective, lower-carbon technologies to both developed and developing economies.

    • Every site is unique and our approach to design reflects these different requirements.

    • Our design approach focuses on the most practical, simplistic and cost-effective way to achieve the desired functional outcomes.

    • Ease of operation and maintenance are important factors that are considered during the design process. Considering these factors early in the design process leads to efficient use of time and resources throughout the lifecycle of the project.

    • Construct a system that integrates seamlessly with existing structures and systems

    • The use of concrete is kept to an absolute minimum which contributes to the reversibility of our plants

    • Major portions of the plant (except the bio-digester) can be containerised which allows building to be done off-site if desired

    • Good planning and a thorough understanding of the plant’s design leads to a smooth commissioning process.

    • Many years of commissioning the projects we’ve designed and built has led to a wealth of experience being built up by our team.

    • Involving future operating staff in the commissioning process where possible, is an effective training tool.

    • We have over a decade of experience managing biogas plants with high efficiency

    • Biodigesters house billions of microorganisms which make each biodigester unique. Effective operations and management of a biogas plant require understanding and attentive monitoring of key parameters.

    • How to respond to any changes in key parameters is also critical for the effective operation of a biodigester

    • Due to the nature of raw biogas, informed material selection during the design and build phases greatly impacts the extent and frequency of maintenance required on the remainder of the biogas plant

Our technology

We design and manufacture our own in-ground sequential bio-gas power plants, including in-house developed bio-gas engines set up with remote monitoring and support, which allows real-time monitoring and control for enhanced preventative maintenance to minimise down-time.
